Thai Job Offer

June 26, 2004 16:01 by jan

Well, originally set off on cycling tour of Thailand, unexpectedly returned back to Chang Mai for a few meetings with the MD of a local software computer company, and have now been offered job. Same skills as present career job, new country....

Nice to have a choice, offered an alternative... and maybe thats all this is, been good fun to look around, talk to the MD, be picked at the hotel lobby by the driver, and generally acting like a tart! but would be mad to turn it down straight away. Hard to give up existing good job in england, not easy to return if do this... Holiday in paradise one thing, work in paradise be careful! More...

Chang Ria - North Thailand

June 20, 2004 22:04 by jan

Some tough cycling the last few days, kinda cathartic, getting fitter so feeling good. Today is a rest day in Chang Rai, so chewing the breeze, enjoying the karma of it all (man). The best Thai food so far, scrummy red curry chick soup, tom yum ghai, vegetables (in red curry). The ingredients are so fresh and tasty, mushrooms met in the mouth, which i don't usually go for, the rest of ingredients, never seen them before. They know about food here.

Weathers good, lovely and hot, then a little rain to take the edge off and 10 minutes later sunlight and you;re getting the sun burned again. Not so many trekkers around, good, less of us farang to go around for the 'admiring' women.

The hills these last few days are murder, never knew so much sweat could pour from the human body. The road was designed to go over all the peaks, and not around or in-between. By the time i got to Mae Salong thought i was ready for a heart attack, long long steep uphills, up and down all day. All geared up now, eager to get some more miles in. Thought it was downhill out of Mae Salong (mountain top), which it wasn't, surely its downhill around the next bend, oh b*****ks

Scenery stunning and very green. Head south tomorrow pointed in a Bangkok direction.
